GoDaddy crosses one million customers in India


One of the biggest internet domain registrar  and web hosting companies, GoDaddy has crossed 1 million customers in India with 17 million customers globally.

The majority of one million customers are small and medium business in India. Around 70% of SMBs from Tier 2 cities in India have used GoDaddy’s services, the company said in a statement. GoDaddy has 40% market share for .in domains in India.

Speaking to TheBigScope, Nikhil Arora, Managing Director, GoDaddy India says , “We are one of the largest cloud based platforms in the world. Customers in India apart from domain names also need other services as well and we give them a portfolio which includes E-commerce solutions and cyber security as well.”

Arora also mentions that their customer care handles more than 4000 customer conversations in an hour. This in an increase from 700 conversations in 2012. “We have marketing people in different languages like English, Hindi, Tamil and Marathi who analyse SMB’s needs across India and also do sentiment analysis for better results,” Arora added.

Commenting on a recent ruling in which the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal asked GoDaddy to pay taxes on income gained from domain names registration in India, Arora said that they are evaluating the ruling.
