All over the country, Indians celebrate Diwali as the day Lord Rama returned from exile TO Ayodhya. After rescuing Sita from Ravana, he was welcomed home as a hero. While many regions tend to celebrate additional deities like Lakshmi, East India – and West Bengal specifically – are more famous for the reverence towards Kali Maa during the period.
