This Startup Makes Drones to help People During Floods


In this episode of The Boss Game, we interview Vipul Singh, Founder, Aarav Unmanned Systems ( AUS ). The Bangalore based startup makes drones. They are used in agriculture,mining, delivery, mapping and disaster recovery situations.

They have created a product called Insight -PPK which has served clients like Thematic Infotect, Kerela Infrastructure Investment Board, JSR and Vedanta. These drones are operated by software indigenously built by 25 member team. The controls and sensors are customized according to needs to every client.

Singh started the company with his friends  Suhas Banshiwala and Yeshwanth Reddy at SIDBI Innovation and Incubation Centre of IIT- Kanpur. “We met a lot of like minded people who wanted to create products in the aerospace industry and that helped us in hiring more individuals.”

Singh welcomes the draft proposal by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), which allows drones to be used in India. Earlier due to the absence of a clear policy in India, many startups were left in ambiguity related to drones. “We have to think of policies which impact the market not now but ten years down the lane. Forward looking policies make business sense.”

The drone startup so far raise capital from GrowX Ventures, 500 Startups along with BellWether Advisors.
